About Me

So who’s this girl behind ‘A Reality Bite’?

For as long as I can remember, my nickname has always been GRACE (except in college where my blocmates have called me Gracie).  But since I moved to Dubai, people have started calling me GRACIE.  Don’t ask me why but my best guess is that they cannot pronounce my name.  And when I say ‘they’, it’s practically most of my colleagues of every nationality whose first language is not English. So yeah, I respond to either nicknames.

- I am the eldest of three girls in the family.  Yep, I grew up with no brother in the house to pester me.  My two lovely sisters both reside in Manila.  While we three hated each other when we were young, we now appreciate each other’s presence.  Having sisters is really the best!

- I got the gift of gab from my Dad.  He is the friendliest person I know.  He loves meeting new people including my friends.   I swear he must’ve been a salesman in his past life!

- Dancing is my middle name.  I was a Cheerleading Captain back in high school, and I joined a dancing competition when I was in college.  I love shaking my booty with or without people watching me!

- I am a true blue Gemini.  I can be extreme sometimes – super fun one minute then subdued the next.  Still a work in progress.

-  I am married to my college sweetheart, Ryan.  I met him in 1995 when I was still a freshman.  We started dating in 1997, split up in 2003, got back together in 2004, got engaged in 2005, and tied the knot in 2006 – twice!  We celebrate three anniversaries in a year and are mushy like that.

- I am a Mom to three adorable munchkins, Dade, Lexie & Avery.  They are my precious babies who I love with all my heart and all my life.  If you ask me what my biggest blessing is, that is the gift of motherhood.  I love, love, love being a Mom!

-  I believe that passion is a great key to a fulfilling life  And there are three top things I am passionate about:  family, food and travel – in that particular order!  My family always comes first, whatever happens.  I love eating and trying out new restos or cafes with people who have the same ardor as I do – pig out, hahaha!  I have been traveling since I was 7 (thanks to my parents!) and since I came here to Dubai, I’ve been to 34 countries in three continents -- Asia, North America and Europe.  I travel with my family, my hubby, my friends, and sometimes, by myself which I totally enjoy, too.

-  I love arts and crafts!  I think I will be buried with my hot glue gun when I die, lol!  I make an extra effort for my kids get to enjoy spruced up birthday parties no matter how simple the celebration is.  I also make nappy cakes on the side and earn a few extra moolah out of it.  People get surprised that I can also draw and hand-sew. Doing crafts is such a great stress-buster for me. I may appear to be a cosmopolitan woman but deep down, I am truly an old-fashioned soul.

- I value my time a lot.  But if there is one legacy I would like to leave, it is that I am generous of my time to people who are close to my heart.  My language of love is quality time.
